Flow assurance is a critical discipline in the oil and gas industry that ensures uninterrupted and cost-effective transportation of hydrocarbons from the reservoir to the processing facility or point of sale. The impact of flow assurance issues on production optimization can be very significant. In the complex or marginal fields (deepwater, subsea, multiphase lines, for examples), flow assurance can impact production optimization by 20–40% if not properly addressed and in simpler onshore fields, the number may be lower (e.g., 5–15%) — but still significant enough to justify focused mitigation strategies. Challenges such as hydrate formation, wax deposition, slugging, and asphaltene precipitation can significantly impact production, safety, and operating costs. This course is designed to equip participants with the knowledge and practical tools to identify, predict, and mitigate flow assurance problems across the production system.
